Steve Fine is the Founder and President of Melanoma Education Foundation in Peabody, Massachusetts. He has a PhD in Chemistry from Northeastern University with postdoctoral research from Lehigh University. Steve pursued a career in academia and then served in technical and management positions in high tech chemical companies. But after his son Dan died of melanoma at the age of 26 in 1998, he founded the non-profit Melanoma Education Foundation. Since 2000, Steve has devoted full time to the Foundation.

The primary activity of the Foundation has been educating teen students and high school and middle school wellness teachers to create awareness about self detecting melanoma while it is curable. Melanoma can strike anyone from preteen to elderly. Steve will talk about detecting it early in a short outpatient visit without any need for follow-up chemo or radiation.
